Me holding a beer

Who am I and why do I love pubs so much?

Oh hi! My name’s Rebecca and I adore going to the pub. I’m currently based in London but have solid pubbing experience in Leeds, Manchester, Coventry and Rugby.

From a young age my parents would take me and my brothers to various pubs around the Midlands at the weekend, and what started off as an interest in where the best playground was or which pub was the go-to for fishfingers, chips and beans it turned into my true love as I reached adulthood.

Now at the ripe old age of 34 I’ve been to numerous pubs around the UK and am reasonably open to any type of drinking hole, the only exception being any pub in Canary Wharf. No ta.

I’ve started this blog to share my favourite pubs, hidden treasures and bang on about how bloody great pubs are.

In each post I’ll cover the 5 areas which are key for me:

  • Draught selection – I’m not an ale expert but I am a fan of an IPA or a classic lager.
  • Staff – I love it when bar staff know their stuff so if someone can recommend a new gin or a snazzy ale it’s a big thumbs up.
  • General vibe – Tough to measure but my fave pubs are chilled with a positive buzz, bonus points if there’s a jukebox.
  • Toilets – No explanation needed.
  • Outside space – As an ex-smoker (2 months, 2 days, 22 hours and counting) the outside area of a pub is just as important as the inside. Plus beer gardens!

There won’t be any scores because it’s not the Eurovision Song Contest but if I love it then you’ll know and likewise if I’m not a fan.

Right, I’m off to the pub!
